Nanna is working across mediums exploring materiality, labour and site. In a process-oriented approach she is turning natural and other found material into objects or images often through the use of very early technologies. Her current work is focused on wool, thread and felt and the possible mythologies arising from this material. Nanna holds a BA in Textile Studies and a MA in Culture and Communication.

Magnúsdóttir works mainly in sculpture. She channels her works into various objects and arrangements, which are in fact staging for the works themselves. Her works are often kinetic and/or emit sound, making them familiar to the viewer, while at the same time challenging their assumptions. Gethin works across a range of media including painting, sculpture and film. At its core, his work is concerned with examining commodity aesthetics across a range of representational codes and conventions. It is the void, the nothing or a (still) unused space where Mirjam Plattner's artistic practice starts - an architectural field giving the first impulse. Elsa is an artist exploring how intimate encounters between human and other-than-human bodies, can create a space for thinking and reflecting upon their ecological relationship with the environment, in ways that can bring us closer to other realities. Lasse Høgenhof (86) is from Tjørring (DK), working in and from Seydisfjordur (IS) since 2011.
Elvar's work has been shown across Iceland as well as in exhibitions in France, Czech Republic and Austria. In 2016 Elvar was part of the project, Frontiers of Solitude, a collaboration between Skaftfell and institutions in Norway and the Czech Republic, which considered the contemporary transformation of landscape. Under the name Auxpan, Elvar releases experimental music and has participated in concerts in Iceland, France, USA, United Kingdom, Italy and Belgium.

Sean’s primary goal is to create an experience for the viewer that is engaging and encourages interaction. He wants people to touch, play, “feel like a kid,” go inside, explore and be curious. Using natural phenomena like the creation of colors in a rainbow, the glow-in-the-dark of phosphoresces or pull of magnetism the work becomes about each person's discovery as well as creating a shared experience of the strange and beautiful wonders of our universe. I didn’t know I would cross a border to meet one. I didn’t know I would cross an ocean to make a world picture. The strings are making a streamline to a spiral face that has been arranged into flesh with the dates of time strung invisible on the string like pearls/gestures of an unkempt bed of snow/linen where lay the images of death masks. A woman is proving that this movement is the message and the messenger based on a rising from within (an entire planetary system evolving from an embryo.)

Abigail Portner is an artist, filmmaker and production designer. Best known for her collaborations and whimsical set designs for Animal Collective, Portner has also directed music videos for John Cale, done large scale video projections for the opening of the Whitney Museum, and created puppets for Jim Henson Studios. Abby graduated from Parsons School of Design in NYC. Her love of theatre, music and children's shows got her interested in making large scale sculptures and set designs.

By nature chickens are very responsive and sensitive to light, the rooster crows when the sun goes up. In February 2017 we experienced the first sun along with 3 dead chickens and at the time it seemed to be a symbol against life.
Alexander explores the potential of things that are often underestimated, considered to have degraded qualities or are limited by traditions, habits of thought and so have lost their vitality and agency, including the possibility of incorporation into a work of art. Through the making of art, this project explores unconventional ideas and approaches that may disrupt existing limiting perceptions we have toward familiar things and open up new thoughts, possibilities and realisations for them.

A flexible, responsive diamond grid of white light notating place, position and activity. This diagrid is a 'wet' grid - which is to say it is adaptable to position and like a simple organism it exhibits trophic responses in response to stimuli, in this case, peoples' movement.
Vindur is a light installation that is painting the wind structures in the Seyðisfjörður night. The wind will fill the wind cones with air, blowing them up and flooding them with light. The installation is capricious and will change suddenly and unpredictable by the Icelandic nature. Purplepony works with a strong focus between Art, Design and Architecture and is a loose formation of do-it-yourselfer, tinkerer and creative unicorns. 'Skin' is a piece responding to and revealing the fleeting elements of its surroundings, such as light, air and movement of bodies. It is doing that through subtle movements and sounds, in a wild dance in the strong wind, in the refractions of light constantly altering the surface, in the reflections of human bodies, moving. Through the Skin the audience is invited to discover the landscape they are part of.

'DPSD: SUNBURN FANTASIA' Combining both a live-action and animation, the visuals will create an ominous but beautiful atmosphere where the idea of sunshine is subverted into something bizarre and violent.
This collaboration will include an illuminated interactive performance series and live streamed projection throughout the festival. Performances will transport viewers to a botanical control room located on an alternate other earth where characters conduct plant investigations, drawing parallels between an alternate planet and period of darkness characterised by icy conditions during the time of the festival.
A Circle in Space records the movement of a pendulum using a ultra-violet light to draw on a phosphorescent surface. Viewers along with wind and weather swing and direct the pendulum to record time and motion as a sort of glow-in-the-dark mandala.

A sundial that welcomes the sun in the city of Seydisfjordur. With a big pole in the center, the rising sun will mark the hours of the day with its shadow pointing at the hours. As soon as daylight disappears, the sundial turns into a circle of bonfires around the center-pole. The audience will interact with the sundial by walking from hour to hour.
Festival radio presenting interviews with participating artists, presentation of festival programme, coverage from festival activities, mini-concerts from the radio room and a daily hour of poetry reading.

Molly MacLellan vinnur með óhlutbundna skúlptúra sem hafa snertifleti við síð-mínimalisma og stólar á náttúrulega eiginleika efniviðsins. Hér er um er að ræða hliðar dagskrá List í Ljósi sem varð til í kjölfarið á kvikmyndaklúbbi sem Arndís Ýr Hansdóttir og Austin Thomasson starfræktu á Seyðisfirði. Hátíðin leggur áherslu á að deila kvikmyndaupplifun á milli hvors annars á hverjum degi með því að bjóða upp á nýja, óvenjulega og áhugaverða upplifun í bíó. Enginn aðgangseyrir og ókeypis poppkorn.

Solveig Ylva Dagsdottir and Nanna Mølbak Hansen
Justin Ashworth is a sound artist/composer from Melbourne Australia, collaborating across media including contemporary dance and film. He also produces original music under the band name Glasfrosch. The sound score draws on some early experiments with the sounds gathered during Justin's residency at Heima in late 2015. The soundscape contains choral pads and voice drones built from recordings in the Tvisongur sound sculpture and a collection of rain and storm recordings made in Seydisfjordur.
Cross the threshold into "Another Dimension" in this interactive installation. Heidi is a Midwest wanderess with a passion for playing. Growing up, her playground was six-hundred fifty acres of dirt, cows, corn, and rust. Here is where the discovery and understanding of life, death, growth, abundance, decay, and other prevalent qualities of the farm became the foundation of her sculpture practice.

“Swans” seems like a harmless and naive name for the radical yet subtle intervention in nature accomplished by this work. Irony is a clearly recognizable element of this installation made from eight satellite dishes, seven white and one black, obvious waste elements of our society representing the power of mainstream TV and mass media. Brought to life by sound, wind and water, these animals float peacefully in a pond, merging perfectly with the nature surrounding them.

Arndis Yr and Austin Thomasson are Detroit based film and photographic artists. They work with narratives that bleed out from their frames. They are hinged upon the failures of how they've come to engage with these mediums, dining with expectations of entertainment versus art.
